Watched the latest True Blood season 3 episode earlier, and...

Thoughts behind cut, with spoilers of course

....okay, it's no secret I suppose, that I am very uncritical about this show. It can be as daft and OTT as it likes and I adore (almost) every minute of it. I loved this episode to bits - even the ridiculous little-girl's-idea-of-fairyland-complete-with-frilly-white-dresses version of heaven, or wherever it was that Sookie went in her dream/vision/whatever. As others have said, it had distinct overtones of Andrew's We Are As Gods scenario from Storyteller but that was part of its charm for me. It was so cheesy you could have eaten it with crackers and a nice glass of red wine. :)

Other things that I loved were the final demise of Lorena (though I did feel sorry for her that her love for Bill got thrown back in her face at the moment of her death), Tara being very forceful and kickass. You'd hardly know she'd been through such trauma herself in the last few eps. She even shook off her realisation that because she didn't leave Franklin My-Middle-Name-Is-Madder-Than-A-Whole-Field-Of-March-Hares Mott a jamlike stain on the floor, he's likely to be back any moment, in order to help Sookie. Plus, she seems to have developed super-strength at some point, if the way she threw Bill (wrapped in a blanket) into the back of the truck all by herself and then kicked him out into the sun is anything to go by. And Bill completely deserved that. I'm also glad he hasn't shanshu'ed, but just been made temporarily sun-proof by Sookie's blood.

I hope Sookie and Bill will be separated for a while now and get to have scenes with other characters. I want to see more Bill/Jessica, for one thing.

Apart from all the above, there were also wonderful scenes with Jason - he had me in stitches with his, "I never thought I was smart enough to get depressed" remark, not to mention his exchange with Lafayette about the meth. His scene with Crystal's cousin was very funny too. He's so cute and clueless. I love him to bits.

Also, this was the first episode where I haven't minded Sam's story. It really came alive for me. I loved his rescue of Tommy from the dog-fighting ring and hope (though not very hopefully) that'll be the last we see of Ma and Pa Mickens.

Last, but by no means least, I loved the Eric/Pam/King Russell/Magister scene at the end. I've missed Pam, and it was great to see her still bringing the sarcasm even under torture. Great also to see Eric's genuine concern for her - and have I mentioned yet that I really like the fact that Pam looks older than Eric? - and King Russell freeing her and finally beheading the Magister was all great stuff. Can't wait to see where this goes.

In fact, the only thing wrong with this episode IMO is the distinct lack of Jessica, but that aside I loved it and I think this is definitely the best season of True Blood yet.

Squee! Told you I was uncritical. This show makes me happy, in spite of all the blood.

I love the show to bits, as well, but I do miss Joss' vampires dusting. Nice, neat and tidy, they were.

Ah, but remember she had a whole bunch of Franklin's blood. She's full of "V" at the moment, which she might need if Chock Full of Nuts comes looking for her.

Nods. And last week there was a comment about wearing someone's ribcage as a hat, clearly someone on that staff is a BtVS fan.

He's so cute and clueless. I love him to bits.

God yes! I also loved his strolling into the Hoyt/Summer scene and snatching up a handful of biscuits.

I want to see more Bill/Jessica, for one thing.

"looks shifty" You might be getting your wish very soon...

You are so right! *g* I think it probably could have been done better, but like you, there is very little I dislike about this show. Being camp and cheesy is all a part of its charm!

Plus, she seems to have developed super-strength at some point, if the way she threw Bill (wrapped in a blanket) into the back of the truck all by herself and then kicked him out into the sun is anything to go by

Could this have anything to do with drinking Franklin's blood?

I hope Sookie and Bill will be separated for a while now and get to have scenes with other characters. I want to see more Bill/Jessica, for one thing.

Yes, they've been so much more interesting apart from each other this season. And I've missed the father/daughter interaction between Bill and Jessica.

He's so cute and clueless. I love him to bits.

I adore Jason. He's one of the highlights of the series for me. He has some wonderful (and funny) scenes.

I loved his rescue of Tommy from the dog-fighting ring and hope (though not very hopefully) that'll be the last we see of Ma and Pa Mickens.

Same here. The dog fighting storyline didn't grab me, but I loved Sam's rescue of Tommy.

I loved the Eric/Pam/King Russell/Magister scene at the end.

I loved that scene to pieces!

I think this is definitely the best season of True Blood yet.

Without a doubt. There hasn't been an episode I haven't loved so far this season!

This show makes me happy, in spite of all the blood.

Right there with you. This show makes me ridiculously happy, and is the highlight of my week. :)

never thought I was smart enough to get depressed" remark

Bwha! That along with "vampire burrito" and "eat my biscuits" were my favorite lines of the night.

The "dream" was so incredibly tacky! It looked like 70s soft porn ;)

The only storyline that really bores me now is Jason/Crystal. I'm spoiler free, so I'm probably wrong, but it sounds like another werewolf thing, and I think there's more than enough werewolves around.

Jason makes me go from exasperation (HE CAN'T BE THAT DAFT!!) to awww in seconds. Not to mention laughing my butt off. Kudos to the actor :)

Hehe, Jason was so adorable! His depression line! The Meth exchange! He might be my favorite character on the show.

The fairy dream was incredibly tacky but I can't wait for more of the fairy realtives, there are some really fun ones in the books.

He brings dummness to a new level of sweet! :)

In the books Sookie and Jason have a fairy grandfather and a few fairy relatives show up down the road (Caludine from the dream being one of them). It's even used as an explanation for Jason being quite so lucky with the ladies.
