Ripper Street & Being Human
Feb. 4th, 2013 05:17 pmStill no Ripper Street icons about? At this rate, I'll have to make my own, and since it's probably eighteen months since I even tried to make an icon, I don't think they're likely to be much good. ;)
Spoilers behind cut for both shows.
I still love and adore Ripper Street. Sergeant Drake is my favourite character. I think last week's ep (guest starring the very lovelyJorah Mormont Iain Glen), did a great job of fleshing out his character and making us understand why he is like he is. This week's ep was a good one for both Inspector Reid and Homer Jackson. The stuff with Reid, his wife, his missing daughter, and Miss Goran was particularly well done, I thought (you could see the UST between Reid and Miss Goran right from ep 2). I wonder, now that a second series has been announced, if the mystery surrounding Homer Jackson and Long Susan will be stretched out a little longer.
Anyway, this article about the 'science' of Ripper Street, is great fun, I think.
Re: Being Human, I enjoyed it (though there were a couple of times I had to look away), but am dubious about the inclusion of 'the Devil' in the show. See, I think that it was when season 2 got all religious that the show faltered badly. Season 4 was a shot in the arm. I'd hate to see it make the same mistake again. That said, this is (apparently), the last series, so maybe they just want to go out with a bang?
