Not really a suitable icon, I know, but it's the only one I have that has anything to do with spies.

So, did anyone else watch ep 1 of The Americans?

Very slight spoilers behind cut.

I did, and enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting. I like the premise, and find the Cold War setting a lot easier to stomach than the borderline racist (and sometimes not so borderline) shenanigans in Homeland, which in any case was a parody of itself by the end of season 2.

Definitely something I'll be catching up on when I get back from France and the family(ish) thing.

Miffed I'm going to miss Springwatch, though.

I have watched the whole season and it was consistently good. I really enjoyed the show, and I didn't expect it since espionage stuff is usually not my cup of tea.

I also saw all of season 1 when it aired here in the States and I agree. Consistently well told story with a talented group of actors. I think you'll enjoy it.

I love "The Americans" (currently three episodes from the end of the season!) I agree that it's far more believable than "Homeland" (in fact, there was a recent scandal about exactly those kinds of embedded spies!) and Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys blow me away. I also LOVE that the non-mole Russians are played by Russians speaking Russian and the little details about the USSR are just absolutely beautifully done. (The guy who developed the show did work for the CIA for a while, so I think he brings an insider's knowledge to bear!)

The only thing honestly that ever bugs me is that while the show is set in Washington DC, it's all filmed in New York (Brooklyn and Queens substitute for DC); this wouldn't bother anyone who hasn't lived both places, but it throws me out of the story when I see somewhere I KNOW doesn't look anything like what it's supposed to be on the show :P The East River in NY and the Potomac in DC are very, very different :D

I watched the series and loved it!

The cast is just so, so great. I thought it got even better as it went on, but the first scene with the music is just unforgettable, IMO.

I liked it much more than I did Homeland, which I gave up on after a couple of episodes, looking forward to rest of season.

I watch very few TV series, but I was intrigued with this one and have watched the whole first season. It's a find! I was pleased to hear that it has been renewed for a second season.

Watched the first episode out of curiousity, but when Matthew Rhys looked at Keri Russel.....I was hooked.

Love the suspense, love the acting, and the directing and writing are really well done, also.

About your icon: a sincere thank you for reminding me of my favorite Bond.
