The Americans
Jun. 3rd, 2013 01:42 pmNot really a suitable icon, I know, but it's the only one I have that has anything to do with spies.
So, did anyone else watch ep 1 of The Americans?
Very slight spoilers behind cut.
I did, and enjoyed it a lot more than I was expecting. I like the premise, and find the Cold War setting a lot easier to stomach than the borderline racist (and sometimes not so borderline) shenanigans in Homeland, which in any case was a parody of itself by the end of season 2.
Definitely something I'll be catching up on when I get back from France and the family(ish) thing.
Miffed I'm going to miss Springwatch, though.

Date: 2013-06-03 03:06 pm (UTC)That was the Anna Chapman affair, wasn't it? I believe she's some sort of TV celebrity in Russia now,
So far, the Russia-set scenes I've seen have all been in English, because the trainee spies are supposed to do everything in English.
I know what you mean about the setting throwing you out of the story. That happens to me constantly when I watch dramas set in Oxford. People are always driving the wrong way down what I know are one way streets, or driving down a street and ending up somewhere I know they couldn't end up.
