Just watched this. Didn't hate it. Didn't love it.

Spoilers behind cut.

I suspect I'm going to forget about this show quite fast. Some time between last week's episode and this, I've managed to emotionally detach myself from it completely - and I was never that emotionally invested in the first place.

It does still annoy me that Dany's descent into madness, or whatever you want to call it, was so rushed (basically, it took place in just one episode), because it makes following her story over the previous seven seasons seem such a complete waste of time. But . It's happened now.

At least Drogon the dragon - my favourite character - survived and got to slag the iron throne good and proper before he went.

And at least Mr Mopey didn't end up king. That would've made me irritable, because he's just been so useless this entire series. All he's really done is brood a lot and stab his girlfriend to death.

As for the Starks, Arya's gone to discover America, Sansa's queen of t'north, and Bran - for no reason I can see - is king of everything else. Also

Vaguely pleased that Tyrion survived, a bit more pleased about Sam.

Best finale moments: Drogon coming out from under a giant snowdrift, Drogon slagging the iron throne, Ghost finally getting his ears scratched.

A-and that's it really. Hope I don't sound bitter or anything, because I'm not. Vaguely disappointed maybe, but that's all.

Agreed, though that's still more than Bran has done in his entire life. It really bugs me how useless all these characters ultimately were.

I was kinda hoping they would somehow give more details about that baby the Night King turned blue a few seasons ago. Is that like the future Night King or something? I've never read the books, so I don't know if there was more there or not.

Yeah, it was like the writers had never seen the show before. And it also felt like they were super proud of themselves because no one saw Bran coming and I'm sure they were trying to be clever, which is a bad idea at a series finale. That is not the time to be cute or clever.

I haven't been emotionally invested in this show in several seasons, I guess I kept watching, hoping it would get good again and then when I found out it was ending, just kept watching to see how it all ended.

But, yes, this season has made it pretty clear that Game of Thrones will probably not live on in TV history as a classic.

And the way Bran just sat there with a strangely daft expression on his face! Probably it was meant to look enigmatic but he just came across as not knowing what to say in the face of so much ass-hattery.

All very anti-climactic, but I kind of expected it given there are no books available to provide nuance, subtlety, character motivation and ACTUAL PLOT. So, what to watch now, is the question...
