Fox are to air all 13 commissioned episodes of Dollhouse.

Article here.

I'm very pleased about this and hope Joss can bookend the show satisfactorily (as it seems extremely unlikely to me that Fox will commission more episodes).

The Sci-Fi Channel in the UK is starting to air season 2 from next week. I still shan't see it of course, since I don't get the Sci-Fi Channel, but though it's nice to join in the squee (or lack of it) while it's ongoing, maybe I'm better off being always late to the party, especially where this show's concerned? I can imagine the Dollhouse fandom (if there is one) could be particularly prone to wank (Eliza's outfits on their own must have created shedloads of it), and I think I would rather avoid that.

In the meantime, now I've finished Dollhouse season 1, I'm wondering what to watch next. I was thinking of rewatching Being Human, but I don't know if I'm in the mood for it. Likewise, not sure if I'm in the moood for more Babylon 5. I fell behind in [livejournal.com profile] ruuger's rewatch and have stalled at the end of season 1. Maybe I will, though. Or I could nerve myself up to watch season 4 of The Wire. Didn't need to nerve myself up for the other seasons, but because this one is about the schools, I'm pretty sure it'll be quite upsetting.

TV-wise, there is not a lot on. Spoilers within for Flash Forward and True Blood season 1 (should anyone else in the whole universe apart from me need those).

Flash Forward continues to be less than inspiring. Terribly Earnest Joseph Fiennes really, really gets on my nerves (though he has pretty eyes, like a sad spaniel puppy), and even an appearance by Gina 'Jasmine' Torres didn't do much to enliven proceedings. Not sure why I'm still hanging in there. Probably because there's nothing else on.

Re: True Blood, I watched the first episode last week and though it was mostly okay, I'm afraid my attention wandered by the end. Not surprisingly, when I was paying attention, I was most grabbed by Tara and Lafayette, the two larger than life characters. Sookie I was meh! about and Bill - I really, really did not like Bill. He was like BtVS season 1 Angel but without the humour (not that BtVS season 1 Angel was humourous except when he tried to act). We'll see. There was stuff I liked so I'll stick with it for now, and still regretting Channel 4's scheduling decision re: Generation Kill, though on the whole I think it's better for me to watch something like that on DVD because I'll probably be only able to take it in small doses and am better off watching it at my own pace.

Anyway, yay! for 13 episodes of season 2 Dollhouse, and because I am going through a bout of Whedon love (apart from the Buffy comic), I think I might try watching Serenity sometime. Maybe I'll like the movie more than the show.

Yay to the thirteen episodes, I was so glad to read that this morning!

Of course I'm getting greedy on the spot and want season three, but with a complete second season Joss should be able to wrap it up sufficienty.

On True Blood, Bill gets funnier over time. He's absolutely not my type of vampire but I think what they managed to get right about him is that he's really from another time. But honestly all in all Bill's a bore, it's Eric who makes True Blood worth watching vampirewise.
I consider it more brain bubblegum than something I really like, but there were scenes in season two that really had me squee big time.

Well to be fair that was expected. As I said before the Sci Fi channel had been advertising season 2 for weeks now, and I can't imagine Fox breaking whatever contract they had for the sale of that to them somehow.

As to 'Fast Forward', watched it again last night. Christ it's dull viewing!

Yay! I'm so pleased to hear they're going to air all 13 episodes! :D

I'm still enjoying 'FlashForward' so far. It isn't the best show I've ever seen, but I'm goingto stick with it for now.

You already know what I think about 'True Blood', so I won't bore you by telling you again. ;) I like Bill well enough, although you're right, he is way too much like BtVS S1 Angel for my liking. Eric is definitely the vamp for me in the show, although he didn't have much of an impact on me unti S2. S2 has some great Eric moments.

Lafayette is fabulous! He's one of my favourite characters in the show. :)

It's worth it for the title sequence, which is brilliant.

It is, isn't it? I love it.

Indeed, yay for lucky 13.

Or I could nerve myself up to watch season 4 of The Wire. Didn't need to nerve myself up for the other seasons, but because this one is about the schools, I'm pretty sure it'll be quite upsetting.

Season 4 is incredible, partly because it is upsetting. Like every season of The Wire it just keeps adding layers to the stuff that came before.

I'm currently watching Farscape and enjoying it a lot; if you want something lighter (not that it's lightweight) and you're not completely tired of space opera, it's one of the best I've seen in that field.

Lafayette and Tara are the best characters in the show, I think. *bites lips on spoilers just dying to come out*

Love your description of Bill. If only he was hotter, so we could forgive him?

Flash Forward - has budget, and I respect Joseph Fiennes for delivering some of that god-awful dialog better than it deserved, but it would be nice if he got more than one emotion per episode. Mostly watching for John Cho, though he's only gotten one emotion so far, period. :P

I did see your earlier response. Weird that it went away!

I don't think Bill is ugly, really, he's just not my cup of tea. I'd forgive him more if he smouldered a bit. ;)

Some day I'm going to figure out how to write something with only secondary characters in it, since I like them best. ;)

::comes in shielding eyes from the spoilers::

I need spoiler warnings, please! I am enjoying Flashforward and have recorded True Blood and fully intend to get round to watching it in the next day or so.

There were spoiler warnings. See the last line before the cut.

Yes, I saw them!

But from this remark:

Spoilers within for Flash Forward and True Blood season 1 (should anyone else in the whole universe apart from me need those).

you seemed doubtful if anyone actually needed spoiler warnings, so I was saying that yes I do and I appreciate you taking the trouble. I was trying to say 'thanks'!

Season 4 of "The Wire" is simultaneously devastating and brilliant - it's really one of the most heartbreaking things I've EVER seen on TV. (And you're right, it's because it seems like the stakes are EVEN HIGHER because of the kids! But it's so brilliant!)

Here I am, catching up on everything I missed while I was offline and buried under work. What a lot I missed!

I, too, could not really get into Flash Forward. It seemed okay, but largely lackluster. There are things I won't sit through even for the Goddess Known as Gina Torres.

I do love True Blood, but I am also mostly meh about Sookie and Bill. I like them all right, but I don't really feel invested in them as a couple, and I'd rather see what's up with the other characters. I'll say this, though: I find them both tons less annoying in the show than they were in the books. But I watch for other characters; I love Lafayette, Terry, Tara, Jessica, Godric, and Eric (particularly those last two together; that's my favorite pairing for the TB-verse).
