Watched an episode of BtVS for the first time since - er, not sure when exactly but when I finished my season 1 re-watch earlier this year. It was Pangs, of course.

Oh, they are, but I do love the expressions on everyone's faces when Xander lets slip about Angel having been there. They all look so caught out, except for Spike who is smirking away.

I am. Only two teenagers descended upon us, DD1 is napping on the couch after her New Moon trip, DD2 is helping to wash a car, and the turkey will be ready soon.

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd say he looked cute exactly. He's definitely a sorry sight for most of the episode, but at least his tongue is as sharp as ever.

I am (patiently) waiting for Thee Football Game to finish so we can pop in Pangss. The ritual sacrifice went very, very well, although we have approximately 1/2 of a pie per person, so we'd best get on with it.

Well, our special pets are always cute and fluffy to us, even if nobody else quite sees the charm.

The ricer is a hand-held device with a plunger at one end, and a fairly coarse screen at the other. You put your potato in, squeeze, and out it comes in approximately rice-sized bits. Fold in butter and milk/cream/sour cream, and you have exceptionally fluffy mashed potatoes. Yum!

This is true, though with all due respect to ubi4soft, I can't really imagine a fluffy pit bull. But then I'm scared of dogs.

So a ricer is actually nothing to do with rice? It sounds very useful if you eat a lot of mashed potato. Must admit, I don't like mashed potato much. I blame school dinners, because the mashed potato always had horrid gritty bits in it.

Pangs is a terrific episode. And I would agree that the bear speech is probably the closest Spike comes to cute in that episode.

I also like the way he goes back on the apologies are pointless speech, only for it to become rapidly apparent that he was right.

Long live the Espenson! Oh yes Pangs is really a funny episode, one that always boosts my moral. J Espenson's skills for comedy shines in this one and perfectly meshes with JM's taste for comedic scenes.

I agree. I can't think what went wrong with Jane in the Buffy comic. Either she's not a very good comics writer or it's an effect of the terrible art detracting from her writing.

Ha! Mike started a tradition some years back that Pangs must always be watched on Thanksgiving, usually in conjunction with the pumpkin pie. And having actually had to prepare food for everyone this year, Buffy's obsession with cooking made me laugh a bit more than usual.

I always thought this was one of the series' best episodes too, which makes the tradition particularly enjoyable.

Lots of people seem to have watching Pangs as part of their Thanksgiving tradition.

It is a terrific episode- very, very funny and with lots to think about. I did enjoy it, and really must get around to rewatching some more BtVS soon.
